The very first sock

Okay, I started my first sock. Ain't it pertty!

Last week at my knitting group we were discussing socks from striping yarns and how/if you should make them match. If you've read At Knit's End, there is a great little philosophy on this. One of my fellow knitters has started her second sock over multiple times to get it to match her first sock. I said that I didn't care if mine match and now that I see that they never will. Take a close look at the yarn that I'm using...there is no repeat! The color pattern is totally randomn. I'm almost to the heel of the first sock (which I can't figure out how to turn for the life of me) and the colors just go on and on. I think it's absolutely hilarious and great! Needless to say, I will have an interesting pair of socks.

At knits end was a great book! I've read it!!.. Now onto that sock! It's coming along nicely but need to warn you that sock knitting can be an addiction all in itself..

That sock is boootiful! I love the colors, what yarn are you using???

Did youfigure out the heel? you have to just *believe* in waht the pattern is telling you and ta-da it will be there.
I am on the, they don't need to match train... I love all the colors so I don't mind it.

Awesome! The random colors look great--don't worry, they're more interesting if they don't totally match. Congrats on starting your first sock!

Is that Trekking XXL? That's the only sock yarn that I couldn't find a pattern repeat. Just wondering if you're using the same brand.

Congratulations on the sock! I'm a newbie to knitting too -- I started roughly the same time you did and coincidentally, I just finished my very first sock too. There's something about knitting socks -- I really like it. Beyond that, I'm obsessed with my new passion of knitting! It's nice to meet you!

I *love* the colors in that yarn. Is it Trekking XXL? Definitely not yarn for people that want to make them match! It will never happen! :D I hope you got the heel turned!
